Windsor Preparatory High School Overview

At Windsor Preparatory High School, our goal is to fully prepare our students for life after high school. Students are encouraged to enter post-secondary programs.  Many Windsor graduates go on to college, from community colleges to four year programs, both in- and out-of-state.  For students who choose a different career path, many enroll in advanced technical and vocational programs.

We feature a diverse academics program, including assemblies, seasonal special events, field trips, computer lab instruction with supervised access, speech and language therapy, a structured behavioral management system, and classes in art, music, foreign languages, and physical education.  Classrooms feature a certified teacher with at least two classroom aides and twelve or less students in a class.

Academics

Windsor Preparatory High School offers a comprehensive academic curriculum. We challenge and inspire our students with coursework in core academics and engaging elective courses.  Students are given the opportunity to pursue their interests and passions in creative and performing arts, technologies and other areas. Meanwhile, individual needs are closely assessed by teachers and counselors, to develop a unique program of study for each student.

Technology

At Windsor, we believe that technology helps create effective, individualized learning environments for all students. Computers, as well as access to the Internet, help to prepare students for the systems they will encounter in the world and enhance the development of their ability to find, understand, and evaluate information. Our state of the art computer lab is used to assist students in developing learning skills, such as thinking and problem-solving skills, information and communication skills, and interpersonal and self-directional skills. In addition, each of our classrooms is equipped with four computers to help deepen and enhance the learning process.

Every classroom at Windsor is equipped with a Polyvision interactive whiteboard. These whiteboards increase the interactive atmosphere in the classroom which in return enhances the learning experience. The Polyvision boards offer our teachers effective ways to reach different types of learners and assess student understanding through multiple means.

Career Development

Transition Program
The Windsor Preparatory High School Transition Program is designed to expose students to the many post-secondary opportunities available including employment opportunities and higher education. The program enables students to develop an awareness of the relevant factors to be considered in making career decisions. Students will also assess their own interests and abilities so they are better equipped to plan for the future.
