Overview

Mission Statement

At the Windsor Schools, we provide the educational foundation which allows students to overcome social, academic and emotional challenges, through innovative programs, preparing them for life after high school.

We believe every child, despite their presenting behavior and social background, wants acceptance, achievement, knowledge, and the ability to interact well with others.  Our challenge is finding the key that unlocks the individual potential of each student in a warm, nurturing environment which encourages the potential to flourish.

Academic Achievement

The Windsor Schools are state-approved, non-profit programs for classified students designed to provide the services and support your child needs to succeed in school and beyond. We provide a quality education, with emphasis on building up the self-esteem and academic achievements of each of our students.

We feature a diverse program of core academic subjects and an array of practical elective courses.  The Windsor curriculum include assemblies, seasonal special events, field trips, computer lab instruction with supervised access, speech and language therapy, and classes in art, music, foreign languages, and physical education.

Program Features

When behavioral issues prohibit your child from functioning in a traditional school setting, we can help.  At the Windsor Schools, our primary goal is the improvement of the educational and social functioning of your child, with successful reintegration into the public schools as the ultimate objective.  We accomplish this through a persistent system of positive reinforcement, which benefits every student at the Windsor Schools.

In addition to academics, we support our students with a strong, structured behavior modification system, counseling services and parental communication.  We provide the means to build academic achievement and self-esteem in children with a history of under-achievement in school, enabling them to learn and thrive in ways they never thought possible.

Behavior modification is realized by stressing the rewards of academic diligence and good conduct.  A student ranking system, with graduated privileges including athletic, extracurricular, and other community service activities, allows students to develop a positive awareness of responsibility and achievement.

Supplemental Instruction

In addition to the regularly scheduled classroom instruction, remedial and supplemental teachers provide individualized and small group instruction based upon the identified academic strengths and weaknesses of each child.

Parents are encouraged to meet with our teachers and school social workers to discuss their child's progress.  Weekly phone calls to all parents from the teachers are a part of our continuous program of information sharing regarding your child's academic and social progress.

Accreditation and Compliance

The Windsor Schools are approved by the NJ Department of Education as a Private School for Students With Disabilities.  Special needs education and related services must be provided to children with disabilities at private schools consistent with state and federal law.  We must comply with all laws, both state and federal, just like public schools.
